When your account is not subscribed
If you are signed in but your account has no plan, the app does not drop you into a shell where every page fails. It puts you on a single screen instead.
What you see
The screen is headed “Subscribe to continue”, or “Choose a plan to continue” when a free plan is available to you, and it tells you your account needs a plan to use the platform.
It is not a dead end. The plan catalogue and the card form are on it, so it is the place where you fix the thing it is telling you about. Choosing a free plan, where one is offered, needs no card.
It shows which account you are signed in as, and offers “Sign out” if that is the wrong one.
Why you can still reach billing
An account that is being asked to pay must be able to reach the page where it would pay. The platform exempts the billing surface from its access gates for exactly that reason, so a paywalled account is never in the position of being asked for money and refused the page at the same time.
Legal pages stay reachable too.
Accounts that subscribed through WooCommerce
If you subscribed through WooCommerce, you are billed through WooCommerce and see a different screen, never the card form. See Billing through WooCommerce.
After you subscribe
Activation is confirmed by the payment provider rather than by the app, so there can be a short activating state before the app opens. The screen says “Payment received” and then offers “Continue to dashboard”. See Pay by card.
If you think this is wrong
If you believe your account should be entitled, check the “Billing” page first. A subscription that is cancelled but not yet ended still has access, so a paywall usually means the period has actually ended.
