Connected apps

View as Markdown

You can connect Claude or ChatGPT to your Next Horizon account and ask it about your orders, parcels and returns in plain words, and, when you allow it, have it act for you. The apps you connected are listed in “Settings”, under “Connected apps”, in the “Connections” group.

“Connected apps” is for the account owner only: team members do not see it, and only the owner can connect an app.

The steps in Claude and in ChatGPT, what a connected app can read and do, and what happens to your data are in Use Next Horizon in Claude and ChatGPT.

Connecting an app

With nothing connected yet, “Connected apps” shows the three steps and the “Connector link”:

  1. In Claude, open Customize › Connectors; in ChatGPT, open Plugins.
  2. Add a custom connector.
  3. Paste the link. “Copy link” copies it.

Each app’s own steps, with the names of its buttons, are in Use Next Horizon in Claude and ChatGPT.

The app then sends you to Next Horizon to approve, on a page at /connect/ followed by the request’s own code. If you are not signed in, you sign in on that page and carry on. Only continue if you started this yourself in the app just now.

The page names the app and says which account you are signed in as, with your name and email. If that is the wrong account, “Not you?” signs you out and sends you back to the app to start again with the right one.

It then lists what the app will be able to see:

  • Orders and their status
  • Customers’ names and emails
  • Parcels and tracking
  • Returns
  • Stock levels
  • Plan and wallet balance
  • Shipping costs and carrier invoice checks

An app that only asks to read has this list marked “Read-only”, and the page says what it will not be able to do: buy labels or spend money, change or cancel orders, or see your password or payment details.

An app that also asks to act for you gets a second list, marked “Can act for you”, with the actions it asks for:

  • Get live shipping rates
  • Buy and cancel labels
  • Book carrier pickups
  • Create returns for your orders
  • Mark parcel alerts as handled

When it asks to buy, the page also says that labels and pickups on Next Horizon’s carrier accounts are paid from your wallet, and names your daily spending limit. What the app will not be able to do then starts with spending more than that limit from your wallet in 24 hours, or buying anything at all while buying by chat is off. An app that acts still cannot change what’s in an order or cancel orders, or see your password or payment details.

What these actions do, and the limit, are in Use Next Horizon in Claude and ChatGPT.

The request expires after a short time, and the page counts down. Just above the buttons, one line asks you again to continue only if you started this connection yourself, from your own Claude or ChatGPT. “Allow access” connects the app and sends you back to it. “Cancel” refuses, and the app gets nothing.

For your security, the page only works in a tab of its own. Opened inside another site, it shows only “Open in a new tab”.

If the page cannot go on, it says why:

Apps with access

Once an app is connected, “Apps with access” lists it, newest first, with when it was connected and when it was last used. An app that only reads is marked “Read-only”; an app that can also act shows what it may do, as “Read”, “Ship and pay” and “Manage”. Each app keeps the access shown until you disconnect it.

To connect a second app, add a custom connector in it with the link shown under the list.

Buying by chat

Below the list, the account owner finds “Buying by chat”: how much connected apps may spend from your wallet on labels and pickups in any 24 hours, what was spent and what is left. You can change the limit there, or turn buying by chat off. How the limit works is in Use Next Horizon in Claude and ChatGPT.

Disconnecting

“Disconnect” on the app, then confirm. The app loses access right away. You can connect it again from the app at any time. Apps cannot be disconnected during a support session.

Connecting and disconnecting are recorded in the activity log, under “Connected apps”.

Resetting your password also disconnects every connected app, as it signs out every session.
