# Staff sign-in

How staff reach the documentation, and what to do when the link does not work

Section: platform. Audience: public. Updated: 2026-10-10.

---
This part of the documentation is for Horizon staff. The customer guides are public: start at the [documentation home page](/).

## How to get in

**Staff reach this site from the admin console.** There is no other way in. In the
console, open the account menu (your initial, top right) and choose Staff docs.

There is no password to enter here, and no sign-in form on this page on purpose. Your
session comes from the admin console, which already knows who you are and has already
checked your second factor. The link puts you straight into the documentation.

## If you landed here unexpectedly

You will see this page in one of three situations, and all three have the same fix.

- Your documentation session **expired**. Sessions are time-limited and you will land back
  here whenever one runs out.
- You followed a **link that no longer works**. Links into the documentation are
single-use and short-lived, so a link that was forwarded, bookmarked, reopened or simply
left sitting for a moment will not work a second time.
- You are **not signed in to the admin console** in this browser.

In every case: go back to the admin console, sign in if you need to, and start again
from there. A fresh link is generated each time.

We do not tell you which of the three it was. That is deliberate, so that this page cannot
be used to work out which links exist.

## If it still does not work

- Check you are signed in to the admin console, in **this** browser.
- Check your account is still active, not suspended, and still has a staff profile. If
you have recently changed roles, that is the likely answer.
- If you are in a support session acting as a merchant, that will not work. A support
session can never open the documentation. Leave it and use your own session.
- If nobody can get in, the documentation signing keys may not be configured in this
environment. That is an operations problem, not yours. Raise it.
