# Export your data and close your account

Downloading an archive of your data, and what deleting the account asks of you

Section: app. Audience: public. Updated: 2026-09-27.

---
## Export your data

**"Settings"**, then **"Data & export"**, holds **"Export your data"**.

**"Download my data"** produces a machine-readable archive of your personal data, including your profile, orders and related records. It is JSON, meant to be readable by a program as well as by you.

If the export fails, the page says so and you can try again. Nothing is left half-produced.

The same section holds **"Data lifecycle settings"**, for retention.

## Close your account

**"Delete account"** is under **"Profile"**.

The confirmation asks for one of two things depending on your account. If you have a password, it asks for it. If you do not, which is the case for accounts created through the Shopify App Store or through a provider sign-in, it asks you to type the word DELETE instead.

The modal says plainly that this cannot be undone.

## Before you close

Take these in order.

Export your data first. Afterwards is too late.

Download any invoices you need for your records. See [Invoices](/app/invoices).

Deal with the subscription. Deleting the account is not the documented way to stop a subscription, and if yours is billed by Shopify or WooCommerce it does not live here at all. Cancel it properly first. See [Cancel your subscription, or keep it](/app/cancel-and-resume).

Consider whether you want to leave rather than close. Moving to the free plan keeps your account and your history at no cost. See [Stay on Free](/app/stay-on-free).
