# Confirm your email address

What the confirmation link does, where the reminders appear, and what confirming currently affects

When your account is created we send a confirmation link to the address you signed up with.

## Clicking the link

The link brings you to `/verify-email`, a page of its own outside the app shell. It both confirms the address and signs you in, so you do not need to go back and sign in afterwards.

If your account has a second factor turned on, the link asks for your authenticator code before it finishes. That is the same code you would use at sign-in.

## The reminder inside the app

Until you confirm, a banner appears at the top of the app headed **"Confirm your email address"**. It names the address we wrote to and offers **"Send the link again"**.

If you signed up with the wrong address, the banner has a **"Wrong address?"** action. That opens a field where you can put the right address in and press **"Update email"**, and we write to the new one instead.

There is a short cooling-off period between sends, so the resend action will tell you to wait a moment before it will send another.

You can also resend from the sign-in screen itself, using **"Resend verification"** in the footer, without signing in first.

## What confirming currently affects

Confirming your address does not currently stand between you and the app. You can sign in and work before you confirm.


One thing does depend on confirmation regardless: inviting teammates stays locked until the address is proved.

## If the email does not arrive

Give it a minute, then check your spam folder. If it still has not arrived, use the resend action rather than signing up a second time, which would only tell you the account already exists.
